The Malaysian Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) announced that it has decided to impose a 5-year anti-dumping (AD) measure on cold-rolled steel coils following an investigation that began on January 31 this year, prompted by a petition from domestic producer Mycron Steel CRC Sdn Bhd. This measure will be effective from September 29, 2023, to September 28, 2028.
According to the investigation results, the anti-dumping duty rate for Nippon Steel Corporation is set at 9.03%, while other exporters/producers face a rate of 22.62%. Daido Steel Co., Ltd. and JFE Steel Corporation are exempt from the duty due to minimal dumping margins.
The affected products are cold-rolled products of alloy or non-alloy steel with a thickness ranging from 0.20 mm to 2.60 mm and a width from 700 mm to 1,300 mm. The product scope excludes black plates or cold-rolled coils imported for automotive, electrical, and electronic purposes.
